Advanced Dreamweaver Class

DESCRIPTION
This class is designed for Dreamweaver users who want to broaden their understanding of the program's features, especially frames, templates, behaviors, style sheets, layers and library items. Class exercises and discussion cover --
The nature of frames and advantages and disadvantages of using frames in a web-site,
What is required to create a frameset, including the difference between the file names for pages and their target names,
Properties such as size, scrolling and borders that can be specified for frames and framesets, and how to set them,
What Dreamweaver's behaviors are, including the nature of JavaScript, and the relationship between events and actions, and compatibility issues,
How to use behaviors to swap images, check the browser and platform type, control the status bar message, create pop-up messages and jump menus,
Downloading and installing additional behaviors,
How to decide which event you should use to trigger an action,
The difference between Dreamweaver's HTML styles feature and CSS styles, and how to use each,
The types of CSS styles,
How to create a CSS style sheet that is shared by several web pages,
How to work with Dreamweaver's templates,
How to create library elements, add them to a page, change a library item and have it updated throughout the web-site, and make a library item editable,
An introduction to the use of layers in Dreamweaver.

PREREQUISITES
A working knowledge of Dreamweaver, including the definition of a site, creation of pages that include graphics, links and tables, rollovers and imagemaps, and simple forms.
RELATED CLASS
Photoshop for further knowledge about editing digital images for use in Web pages.
Javascript to learn how to write Javascript actions that can be pasted into Dreamweaver.
Advanced HTML 1 to explore HTML layout techniques and learn to understand and work with on-line graphics.
Advanced HTML 2, which covers styles sheets, dynamic HTML and use of multimedia elements on web pages.
