What You Will Learn
This course is designed for business people and publications professionals who want to learn to use Adobe Acrobat to create PDF files for distribution through corporate networks, on the Internet, or by disk. Class discussion and exercises will cover —
- What a PDF file is and how it differs from document files created by other computer programs,
- What can be included in a PDF file,
- How to navigate within an Acrobat document using Acrobat Reader,
- Factors to consider when deciding what software to use to create a PDF file,
- Adding notes to a PDF file, creating bookmarks and thumbnails,
- Document security options for PDF files,
- How to create a PDF file using Acrobat Distiller,
- Job options for embedding type fonts in a PDF file, and how to decide which options are best for a particular project,
- How to decide what resolution and color model is best for graphics incorporated into PDF files,
- Choosing the correct graphics compression setting,
- Creating links from PDF files to documents created with other programs,
- Adding video clips to Acrobat documents, and
- Incorporating links to web sites in a PDF file.

Prerequisites
A working knowledge of mouse and menu-based computer applications, and the Windows or Macintosh operating system. Although not necessary, it is useful also to have a familiarity with computer graphics formats such as EPS and TIFF.
